I'm nearing the end of DQ3... doing some grinding before the last boss. It's a great game, no doubt! But I don't think I'm going to go for plat. I haven't been using a guide so I have no clue which mini medals and friendly monsters I'd need to get. Maybe in my next playthrough!

Yeah, I would imagine so. Do you ever fire up the old Vita anymore? Vita means life.
I am still playing Spelunky. I also finished a really unique indie game called Goldenheart. It was pretty punishing, but also correspondingly rewarding. It's sort of a Zelda/King's Field sort of hybrid thing. It really has its own flavor though, but there are pretty apparent inspirations. One thing I love about playing stuff from small devs is how unique the flavor can be, and that was certainly true here.
I realize as I post this that I often play stuff so far off the beaten path that I probably ought to post a trailer:

Dragon kick your a$$ into the Milky Way!

I would if the battery didn't crap out on me. It only works now if it's plugged in, which kind of defeats the purpose of a mobile device.isthatallyougot wrote: ↑Mon Jun 01, 2026 11:59 am Yeah, I would imagine so. Do you ever fire up the old Vita anymore? Vita means life.![]()
That trailer is something. Those devs made their game with you in mind, haha.

Are you grinding levels or classes or both?canedaddy wrote: ↑Mon Jun 01, 2026 10:35 am Played recently: Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake

Games added: Nothing
Last week: Finished nothing, played Crimson Desert
This week: Crimson Desert
Still playing CD, still loving CD. I did a main story mission last night, and I think that's the first time I've advanced the main story at all in a week & a half or possibly 2 weeks. I still can't get over the amount of detail, depth, and polish they've given to this game while at the same time making it mind-bogglingly massive.
I didn't realie that 7th Guest remake was coming out this week, I'm really interested in that one. Loved the original back in the day - an extremely creepy puzzle game. I'm curious to see if they managed to keep the atmosphere of the original or if they went overboard with modernizing it and killed it. Hoping for the first, obviously. It's a shame what happened to the original developer, but it makes for a very interesting read if anyone has the time & interest:

Man, PS1-era 3D graphics are not something I have nostalgia for.

I could not have put that better.
Re: The Backlog Check-In Vol. 439: 5/30/26: June Edition
argyle, very glad you're digging CD so much. I'm pretty sure I'll feel the same whenever I get to it.
Levels. Just wanted to get everyone in the 40s, which didn't take long. (I had changed some classes a while back.) I beat what I think was the final boss last night, but I'm not in the clear yet. I stopped after you-know-who was vanquished, but I'm still down below, so they might throw something else at me. We will see.
