The Backlog Check-in Vol. 395: 7/27/25: Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound Edition

Post by argyle »

Games added: Nothing

Last week: Finished Fantasy Life i & My Friendly Neighborhood, played Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe & Horace

This week: Same

Ended up clocked about 80 hours into FL, great game. Still didn't do EVERYTHING - a lot opens up after you beat it - but I'm good for now. My Friendly Neighborhood was a day-1 gamepass game. It looked interesting so I gave it a go, and it was short so I wrapped it up over the weekend (final time said just barely over 7 hours). It's basically a classic Resident Evil game with the zombie replaced by muppets. Very well designed, fun to explore - the combat is a little wonky, but they give you plenty of ammo so it doesn't matter too much.

Played just a little Stanley Parable. Always wanted to get around to this one - it's interesting, and I want to play more, but it's also kinda depressing at times so I can only play in short bursts. Horace is a very unique-feeling sidesplorer. Very story heavy, which really works for it, and had some interesting platforming mechanics. It's apparently been out a while now but I had never heard of it until recently when someone recommended it in a Reddit thread. Dunno how it slipped past me, because it's right up my alley. Too many games, no doubt.

Also, this is apparently my 1,000th post. :P

50 yo and 1K posts, milestones galore! :P

Played recently: Dave the Diver

Finished: nothing

Added to backlog: Dave the Diver

Dave the Diver is a great time. Nice loop of catching fish during the day and serving them up in a sushi restaurant at night, with many interesting twists as you go deeper (get it?). Lots of charm and funny moments.

Definitely an interesting game, lots of quirks with that one. They seemed to think of everything that a gamer would try to do.

Finished: Nothing

A new Octopath Traveler was announced at today's Nintendo Direct:

Most likely coming to everything (I'd be surprised if not).

EDIT: Yup, just got an email from S-E about the game, coming to everything:

I really need to play these - you guys recommend starting with the first, or just skipping straight to the second? :?:

I didn't play the first. They apparently don't have much that ties them together, so you can either play 1 then 2 or just go straight for 2.
