The Backlog Check-in Vol. 390: 6/21/25: Death Stranding 2: On the Beach Edition
Re: The Backlog Check-in Vol. 390: 6/21/25: Death Stranding 2: On the Beach Edition
Finished: Octopath Traveler II
Now Playing: Octopath Traveler II (optional boss)
Added to Backlog: Nothing
Current Backlog: 39 games
Octopath Traveler II is in the books! (Mostly) I still have the optional boss left and I'm dreading that one. I died once on the 2nd part of the final boss, then struggled through the first part on the next run...but survived that and then took him down on the second overall try.

Last week: Finished nothing, played Fantasy Life i
This week: Same
Fantasy Life i is crack. DG tells me I'm getting close to the end of the story, but he also says (and I kinda figured this) that a lot doesn't open up until you finish the story.

Hey izzy, I have a question for ya. We were talking a while back about some of the more...questionable sites that sell PC game keys and how they're often sourced from other countries, "grey" markets, etc. Do you know if Fanatical is on the up-and-up in this regard? I ask because one of the few new release games that I really want day-1 this year is Silent Hill f, but I refuse to pay $70 (or more) for a game. I see Fanatical has the preorder for $52.49 - definitely more my price, but wondering if I should feel bad about buying it there.

Yeah, fanatical is a legitimate key seller with no (known, at least) shenanigans. I've found that sticking to Humble, Fanatical and Green Man Gaming will allow me to cover all my discount shopping cheapskate needs, ha. But I still very rarely use CD Keys when they tempt me with their evil ways.argyle wrote: ↑Thu Jun 26, 2025 2:08 pm Hey izzy, I have a question for ya. But Fanatical is totally legit in all ways that the term is measured imho. They source their keys from official publishers/channels. That's a pretty good pre-order price for that too. Although, with the higher new game prices becoming more commonplace, we're probably getting trained to view things as deals that we would have spit upon before, lol.
Looking forward to your impressions of that. I'll get it, but I'm going to wait a while. Looks UUuumazing!

Good to know! I thought I had remembered you saying that Fanatical is "one of the good guys" as it were, but couldn't remember for sure. I'm not pulling the trigger right away anyway, but every time I see something else on this one I get even more excited for it.isthatallyougot wrote: ↑Thu Jun 26, 2025 2:49 pmYeah, fanatical is a legitimate key seller with no (known, at least) shenanigans.
