The Backlog Check-in Vol. 386: 5/27/25: Elden Ring Nightreign / to a T Edition

Post by canedaddy »

Hey Phase! We miss you, bro! Come back, if you can!

Well, Memorial Day has come and gone, which I reckon means crim is free (or almost). Another school year in the books! Congrats!

Hope the rest of y'all are in good health and getting ready for a great summer.

Played recently: Detroit: Become Human

Finished: nothing

Added to backlog: nothing

Current backlog: 40

I was looking through the PS+ Extra Game Catalog for something to play after Journey to the Savage Planet and came upon Detroit... and decided it would be a nice change of pace. I'm not a big fan of David Cage games, but I did play Indigo Prophecy and Heavy Rain and thought there were some good moments amid the goofy stuff ("Jason!" ).

I'm really liking it so far. The theme isn't anything groundbreaking, but it's cool how it's playing out with the three androids and their stories. I'm planning to only go through it once and let whatever happens happen (vs. trying to see every branching path). We will see.

I played a couple of brief games recently because I realized my year-end list for 2025 was going to consist of Out of the Park Baseball and...nothing else. :P (not really, but close to it, ha)

I played two point and clicks, Poco, which was a charming freebie on Steam that had no right being given away and She and the Light Bearer where you play a firefly in a nature-themed adventure. They were both decent, and I needed a bit of a break as well as populating my gaming year so that I don't feel like a miserable failure. :P

I'm going to get back to Inferno Climber as well this week, which I've been really enjoying, but was at a good stopping/rest point.

And I'm in the first off-season of the United States Baseball League. Spoiler Wisconsin beat Tennessee, neither of which I've yet shared in my league thread. It was an incredibly fun first season, and I've been DOING WORK in this off-season to make sure I'm not the 9th worst team out of the 50 again in season 2. My cheap, ahem, fiscally responsible, owner even gave me some more money to work with in the middle of the off-season because he was impressed at what I was able to accomplish with such strict constraints in the early part of the off-season, and so I signed an absolute ACE of a pitcher, which also has the "Fan Favorite" designation, as well as a catcher with the same "personality" trait. As a result fan interest shot up from 57 to 73, and season tickets have been MOVING along with projected attendance and earnings far exceeding the goals my owner set for me. It's spring and the optimism is PALPABLE... Don't bring me down fickle baseball gods! :P

Games added: Nothing

Last week: Finished Revenge of the Savage Planet, played Expedition 33

This week: More Expedition 33, and my copy of Fantasy Life i is arriving today so I'll probably start that

Expedition 33 is fantastic, it's very hard to believe it's an indie. I don't have a single bad thing to say about it right now at about 10 hours in - story, gameplay, music, & graphics are all top-notch. I'm playing it on Gamepass right now, but I'll own this one at some point.

Oh, I usually don't count the free PC games I pickup through Amazon Prime, Epic Games giveaways, etc. in my pickups just because there are so many of them (and truth be told, I don't play most of them). But Deliver At All Costs, which just released last week, is a Epic Store freebie right now so I grabbed that. Looking forward to trying that one out.

EDIT: Forgot I finished RotSP last week. Great game. :)

Yep, that's a good way to play Detroit - make your choices and see how things unfold. Going through every path takes a while, lol.

Finished: Nothing

Now Playing: Octopath Traveler II

Added to Backlog: Nothing

Current Backlog: 40 games

I have completed 3 stories in Octopath Traveler II, 5 more to go...plus a bunch of side stuff. About 89 hours into it so far.
