I'm really having a great time with Withering Rooms. It's always risky when you go into a game really hyped - something I usually avoid doing most of the time nowadays - but WR has really lived up to and probably exceeded my expectations. It's got some areas where it could be improved. The combat is a little sluggish and sometimes you can find yourself a bit overwhelmed by a variety of enemy types, although it has been manageable so far. But overall man, it really nails both the Souls and Survival Horror genre vibes exceptionally well. I wasn't sure how well a developer could translate those ideas into a 2.5D game, but WR nailed it for me. And the rogue-lite elements aren't too punishing since you've got the ability to "remember" items via the use of some in-game consumables. Granted, I always want to remember more than I've got slots for, but it does force you to really consider your build. There's so much depth in terms of character construction and narrative though. It's one of those games that has been living in my awareness while not playing.

Last week: Finished nothing, played Vampire Survivors & Spyro 2 Remaster
This week: A little Vampire Survivors, but not much else so far - it's one of those weeks
Limited Run shipped my Tomba! remaster, so I may start that when it comes in - love that game. Not sure if I'm going to keep playing Spyro or not - it's fun enough, but I have played it before (the original). Some long days this week, so haven't felt like playing much of anything by the time I get home.
Izzy, I hope you're feeling better from your flu - I haven't been hit hard by it in several years myself, I just hope I'm not due.
Phase, I hope you're still hanging in there too.

Sweet! DQ3 is the only mainline game I haven't played yet. Presumably the remake would be the way to go?
Played recently: Dragon Quest Builders 2
Finished: DQB2
Added to backlog: nothing
Current backlog: 44
I've played a lot of DQB2 this week. Extremely addictive, especially since it offers a semblance of productivity to an unemployed bum.

jfissel, knowing you, I'm sure you got the plat, right? And you did all the tablet missions? I'm struggling with finishing both.
For plat, apparently I have to breed the rarest pet... I believe that's the only thing I'm missing. I've managed to get one puppy so far, and that's taken truckloads of meat. I think I get the gist now, but this takes generations, right? Raising up puppy after puppy to maturity, and then having the brothers and sisters make babies??
For the tablets, I've done almost everything but cannot get people to buy items. I've set up the store with a max-appeal bedroom (with food) for the merchant (I think she's a created character, brought in from another island, if that matters) and using items that supposedly sell, like Hammerrhood plushies. No one has bought a single thing.
Any tips or tricks you can throw my way?

Yes, the remake for DQIII is the best version IMO.canedaddy wrote: ↑Fri Nov 22, 2024 9:31 amSweet! DQ3 is the only mainline game I haven't played yet. Presumably the remake would be the way to go?

Looking at the trophies for DQB2, I got the rarest pet trophy last and the 30 tablet trophy 4th to last. I do not recall the specifics, but there seems to be 60 tablet objectives total for the 3 areas and you need 30.
