The Backlog Check-in Vol. 153: 12/5/20: Cyberpunk 2077 Edition
Re: The Backlog Check-in Vol. 153: 12/5/20: Cyberpunk 2077 Edition
Games added: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1&2, Kingdom Hearts All-In-One Package, Star Wars Squadrons, Destroy All Humans! (remake), Mega Man Zero / ZX Legacy Collection, Dragon Ball Z Kakarot (Carrots), Remnant: From the Ashes, Red Dead Redemption II, The Falconeer, Watch Dogs Legion
Last week: Finished Star Wars: Jedi Outcast, played Mortal Kombat 11, AC Valhalla
This week: A little more of those two, plus CYBERPUNK 2077
My BF stuff came in the mail this week. That GS b1g1 sale landed me Tony Hawk & Watch Dogs Legion for a total of $30. Lots of other really good deals there too - DAH, Mega Man & Dragon Ball were about $8.50/each for example.
Jedi Outcast was fun - I ended up dropping the difficulty to easy in the last quarter or so of the game, and even tho that made it REALLY easy I don't regret it, because with the number of enemies they start throwing at you at the end it would have been an absolute slog on normal. Story was pretty good, game was a good start if EA lets them do a follow up - there's definite room for improvement (for example, there are tons of parts you find for your lightsaber that do absolutely nothing - they can't even really be considered cosmetic because the only time you see them is when you're changing the parts out).
Still enjoying Valhalla, and MK11 is a lot of fun - tons of single-player content there. I haven't even started the story mode yet.

Re: The Backlog Check-in Vol. 153: 12/5/20: Cyberpunk 2077 Edition
Finished: Nothing
Now Playing: Yakuza: Like a Dragon, Spider-Man: Miles Morales
Added to Backlog: Nothing
Current Backlog: 40 games
I think I'm around 47 hours into Yakuza, still so much to do! And there isn't any side stuff showing in Miles Morales so I will be getting back to the story.

Re: The Backlog Check-in Vol. 153: 12/5/20: Cyberpunk 2077 Edition
Played recently: Divinity: Original Sin II - Definitive Edition
Finished: nothing
Added to backlog: nothing
Current backlog: 34 (15 PS4, 7 Vita, 7 3DS/DS, 5 PS2)
It's taken a while to get the lay of the land, but I'm having fun with Divinity. My crew is getting tougher with new skills/loot, and while the storytelling is everywhere, it's very good if you take it in bite by bite. Great game so far.

Huh, I asked for Divinity 2 for my secret Santa at my job. That, Indivisible or a good ol' PSN gift card. I'm not as cool as the dude I have to get a gift for who only asked for Nas Illmatic on vinyl (which might be the coolest secret Santa gift request I've ever heard of...that or the most Brooklynite hipster, I haven't decided yet
)
Posting from a laptop! I figured I can since nobody showed up for my virtual study hall class (shut it, they normally come but it's a Friday in December. I'm amazed they even get out of bed in normal times on a Friday in December so them showing up at all is amazing. So ditching a study hall is fine
)
Argyle, 2 things: I'm going to assume KH is for collection purposes. Because the packaging is a lie. It does not contain everything. Because Square. And calling Kakarot 'Carrots' is adorable, please refer to it exclusively as that if you ever play it and discuss it here

And sorry for the delay j, but it's been a week!
), everybody is in the mid 30's. I just finished all the friendship links last night (that's what I focused on this week) so now I feel good about moving on and doing some power leveling.
I have started to find during chapter 11 that changing jobs even from level 1 that they get to level 3-6 in just one battle and then it levels off a bit but they still get a ton of levels after a few fights. So I am changing more regularly now (got host and fortune teller to about level 10 in 1-2 hours each of minimal grinding). I do love charming and brainwashing fools. But the Head Trauma attack from one character is just not fair. I don't know why they made it so strong. Oh and Dealer is also unfair and sick in the damage department. Did you know there's some job specific items that make jobs level faster (1.5x exp)? I did not until this week, so keep that in mind, you tend to get them for substory rewards. I had just been ignoring those.
And I definitely need more of those items, I want all the Poundmates! You can get the item you're talking about from random battles but not often. I got 1 or 2 this week after about 40-60 battles total. Also, still not really feeling crafting, I have a hard time finding materials and don't like grinding for them (I blame getting the Ultima Keyblade in Kingdom Hearts games for my aversion to crafting grinds...)
Oh and as for costumes, Nanba's a nurse, I have my dealer decked out like Karou from Yakuza 2, Adachi is dressed like Date but only when he's doing the musician job (because I always felt Date needed a hobby that wasn't being a hardboiled cop, kinda sucky but not terrible dad or being shot saving Kazuma from himself so I landed on him being a musician in my headcanon), my idol is of course Sakura, and the hitman class you pick up later is currently in a very specific Yakuza 6 get up (if you know, you know
). The last character and Kasuga I haven't picked yet. I kinda want Kasuga to run around in armor and the last one I still have to see what fits. I really wish they gave me a full Ono Michio suit, that would be amazing
Also, please don't feel obligated to respond to my longwinded posts, I can overwhelm when I find somebody who wants to talk about this game at all and it's been you and one other friend from my old job, sorry
. I think in the next week or so I will wrap it up and move on to DQ11S. Might get myself Miles Morales first though. Just to break up the turn based JRPG's. We'll see!

I am rounding the corner on chapter 11 now (nary a substory in sight anymore...guess they want me to move on with the actual plotjfissel wrote: ↑Sun Dec 06, 2020 7:44 pm
Oh man, there's so much in this paragraph I don't even know where to begin.
- I'm in chapter 9 right now, level 25
- I think I've cleared all substories so far (don't see any on the map). As with other Yakuza games, some of them have been absolutely bananas!
- Side stuff: I have not raced in Dragon Kart except for the substory race. Finally got to the number one spot in the management game, and I've Been keeping up pretty well with Part-time Hero stuff. Dabbled in the arcades a bit, but haven't played casino games, shogi, or mahjong.
- Poundmates are fun and they can really provide a great assist in battles!
- Job-wise, I've changed a few times but I think I'm going to stick with the same jobs for a while since switching to a low rank job can send your overall stats plummeting. I've currently got a Hero, Enforcer, Idol (wearing Haruka's costume, btw - only way to do it, lol), and then a Clerk. I can't remember the name of the weapon, but my Idol has a microphone that "brainwashes" enemies like 20% of the time...what this means is that they'll attack other enemies or just stand there if they are the only enemy. It's incredibly useful in fights with harder enemies. I've tried Breaker, Musician, Foreman (the construction guy you mentioned), and then all of the default jobs for each character.
- I can't remember when this unlocked, maybe chapter 7, but a new collectible started showing up around town. And I literally searched every inch of the map to find 94 of them on my own...reminds me of the time when I spent hours searching all over Vice City for those statues. Not sure how many there are, but enemies can drop them after fights as well. And then you can trade them to a special store to get cool weapons, armor, and Poundmates.

I am in chapter 10, been caught up in clearing Part-time hero enemy quotas for a while - some of them rarely spawn and are annoying as hell. My friendships are also maxed out because I've been fighting all those random battles, lol.crimson_tide wrote: ↑Fri Dec 11, 2020 12:58 pm I am rounding the corner on chapter 11 now (nary a substory in sight anymore...guess they want me to move on with the actual plot), everybody is in the mid 30's. Ok, maybe I'll try out some of these other jobs for a short while. I have not seen Head Trauma, will look for it. And yes I realized about those job specific items a few days ago. I completed a substory and went to find that piece of gear and couldn't equip it to Kasuga. So then I was stumped for a few mins until I realized that the bottom-ish portion of everyone's accessory list can be different. Now I've got them equipped and I actually just bought a few more from the casino.
I have not gotten any of the crests from random battles, however I did find 1 more out in the world for a total of 95. I'm callin it - I found every one of them!

63 hours in...this game is still fun!

If your dude delivers, I hope you enjoy. As for vinyl, we were all so happy to be rid of it in the '80s that it blows my mind that it's come back so strong. I do like the sound but what a PITA to deal with. So I'm going with "most Brooklynite hipster."crimson_tide wrote: ↑Fri Dec 11, 2020 12:58 pm Huh, I asked for Divinity 2 for my secret Santa at my job. That, Indivisible or a good ol' PSN gift card.
