I'm probably about 4 hours into Yotei and loving it so far. Trying to roam around to find skill upgrades, resources, and money. How is your Yotei journey going, argyle?

I picked up quite a few games during the most recent Steam/autumn sales between Steam, Fanatical and even Loaded (CD keys). I'm a bad boy.

I know I had Joe Danger as part of PS+ or whatever they call it now, but I haven't subbed for ages, and I never had a chance to play it.The only thing that isn't a full "game" release is the Elite Dangerous DLC. I also already had Tales of Symphonia on both Gamecube and PS3 digitally as well as Prototype (physical), but who am I kidding? I'm not sure if I'll ever fire up those again. And the Ubermosh collection is a bunch of (very similar) titles. I already had one, but the whole collection was only 49 cents, lol. So even if I didn't enjoy it, no big deal.

Anyway, even if I only count that one collection as a single game, it was 35 titles (well one was DLC) for $69.43, and all stuff I wanted, of course. So $1.98 a piece. Good deal imho.

Also, season 4 of the USBL is finished. My Michigan Lakesiders fell to the Washington Orcas in 7 in the divisional round, with the home team winning every single game in the 2-3-2 format.

The post season was crazy for the eventual champs - The Ohio Johnnies. They won in the division round (no wild card round for them) 4-3, winning game 7 in extra innings. The won in the Revolution championship series in 7. They were up 3-0, let the Vermont Sugar Maples win 3 straight to force a game 7 before winning that in 7 as well. And in the Victor's Crown series against the Washington Orcas, they fell *BEHIND* 3-0 before rallying to tie the series and then won THAT game 7 in extra innings as well. It was a CRAZY post-season, and a really fun ride! On to USBL season 5 where I think I've got a good chance to compete after signing a 2nd starting ACE pitcher to go along with arguably the best bullpen and defense in the league, and an offense that is also in the upper tier. I did lose my 4-time gold-glove winning short stop to a broken hand in the pre-season, but he's only going to miss about 3 weeks of the regular season, and we've got it covered for him while he's out. I just acquired him prior to last season for a lights-out reliever. THAT reliever, who was on the last year of his contract, didn't resign with the club I traded him to, and I re-signed him as a free agent THIS off-season. So, I've got both guys now, lol.

To answer your question J, I've played *a lot* of Yotei so far and I love it. I took some time off at the end of last week (not because of Yotei, just happened to line up that way) and played it a ton since I got it Thurs. The game is amazing, easily as good as Tsushima. I have 33 hours in it now I believe, and I still haven't fought a single story "boss" - just doing tons & tons of side missions. It's a gorgeous game that's just plain fun to play. I love the organic way that quests (and quest markers) are given, and I also like how you earn new skills without XP (can't remember if the original had a similar system or not). BTW, I'm playing w/ the Japanese language track, how are you playing it J? This series & Yakuza are two that just don't feel right to me if they're not in the Japanese - I watched a short video on YouTube where someone was using the English, and it sounded very odd.

As for the PS5 itself, the slim is definitely not as obnoxiously big as the OG, so that's a plus. I ordered a silicone sleeve for the controller, since I remembered the sharp edges of the Dual Sense being one of my main complaints from when I had one before, and it definitely solved that issue - very comfortable with it installed. I had also forgotten about some of the digital games I had previously purchased, so I have a nice little backlog ready to go there. My only minor quibble is the fan makes a very high-pitched whine, but it's only really noticeable when I'm playing late at night & everything else in the house is quiet. I did a little digging, and it appears to depend on what brand fan was installed in your system. I'll live, it's definitely not a deal breaker, but maybe at some point someone will sell a replacement (they may now, I really havne't looked).

As for the games I picked up, I took a couple of very large CE's I had in the closet to a local mom & pop game store to see what they would give me in trade. Was hoping to pick up a second controller, but they were out. Anyway they gave me decent credit - the sets were massive, definitely too big to try to ship, and I wanted the space back. I have more and talked to the owner, he said bring 'em - so I'm gonna free up some more space soon.

Not counting the one in the prologue, of course

Wow, that's a lot of time already!

I am definitely just roaming around looking for some health and skill upgrades along with bounties and other random things...but I will most likely pepper in a few of the bosses after I've explored a decent amount of the opening area. I think you have to beat some of those bosses to get the different weapons, and I for sure want to check out those chain hook things sooner rather than later.

Oh, and I'm playing on Japanese language track...can't remember if any visual filters. Also, I've struggled with the camera - I turned down the sensitivity, but also can't decide if I want inverted vertical (which seems normal like other games) but then the bow aiming is backwards. I just can't get used to either, lol.

Goddamn I miss playing video games and chatting with y'all! All I want to do is buy FFT but I don't because then I would be mad I can't play it anyway...but I wanna play it so bad and kill Argus again because he's the absolute worst...and seriously like the entirety of that game's story is his fault.

Played: i don't know. Lego Batman for like 3 minutes?

I'm having a lot of fun with Borderlands. It's a big step up from the last one, which I quit on twice. Great cast and setting, loathsome villains, humor is spot on, missions are fun and varied, and the loot is awesome. My only gripe is that it seems unfinished. I haven't played a game with this many technical issues in a while... probably because I almost always play games a year or more after they come out and that crap is fixed. You'd be wise to do that with this one. I'll be your beta tester.

Knocked of my first boss in Yotei a couple nights ago. You don't get the weapons from defeating the bosses, J (which you may have discovered by now). I have 2 of the extra weapons in addition to my katana now. I played just a little last night, but not a lot. The area I was in was supposed to be spooky, but after the long day I had had it was more relaxing. I was falling asleep playing.

Cane, I came really close to picking up B4 the week it came out, but after seeing the reports of tech issues I decided to hold off. It really sucks that these big companies think it's OK to release their games broken & fix them after the fact - I think I sat on Jedi Survivor about 6 months before it was patched up, and I swore I wouldn't do that again. I am glad that the core game is better than B3 & you're having fun with it, but yeah, I'm gonna wait on it. I think I'm learning patience in my old age.

Crim, hang in there, you'll get some free time eventually - maybe you can pick it up & play during your Christmas break.

I am still roaming around the grasslands getting upgrades and whatnot so I did not know that.

But soon, I will venture up North to at least see some new territory. I have taken several pictures from high up places with amazing views!
